Many people are concerned about visible scars after facelift surgery.
Let’s explore why the incision lines from Dr. Ryu’s DEEP PLANE FACELIFT are nearly invisible and free from noticeable scarring. Ideally, incision lines should be thin, faint, and difficult to detect – and this can be achieved!
In some cases, severe scarring at the incision site can occur due to genetic factors.
However, more often than not, noticeable scars are the result of excessive skin tension.
Over-pulling or removing too much skin puts strain on the delicate incision areas, inevitably causing scars.
By thoroughly releasing the retaining ligaments and lifting the tough SMAS layer, only the excess skin is trimmed, reducing tension on the surface.
When the retaining ligaments or SMAS flap are not properly dissected, the skin must be pulled tighter, increasing the likelihood of scarring.
