In this video, I will tell you about my main surgery, ‘Dr. Ryu’s Deep Plane Facelift’.
Deep Plane Facelift is a method of facelift that has recently become a huge craze in the United States and other parts of the world, and it is characterized by excellent results and extremely fast Recovery.
How is that possible? Let us take a closer look.
First, let me tell you a brief history of the Deep Plane Facelift.
Deep Plane Facelift is recognized as the most updated facelift method today, first mentioned by Dr. Tord Skoog in the 1970s, adapted by Dr. Sam Hamra in the 1990s, and provided the theoretical basis for anatomy and techniques such as facial retaining ligaments and spaces by Dr. Bryan Mendelson. Along with MAFAC Faculty, it has been recognized around the world by renowned facelift surgeons such as Dr. Andrew Jacono of New York
Though there are differences in interpretation depending on the times and viewpoints,
today, Deep Plane Facelift can be defined as ‘Fully Releasing the Retaining Ligament in the Sub-SMAS plane.’ This is the secret to excellent results.
MAFAC, which I often mention above, is the world’s leading facial anatomy education and research group that provides the theoretical basis for Deep Plane Facelift.
A quick look at my surgical process,
the incision is made around the ear, and subcutaneous dissection should be as limited as possible. It is a concept called ‘Composite Facelift’, and this is the secret to an extremely fast recovery.
SMAS incision is made using ‘the High SMAS method’ to maximize the effect of mid-face elevation.
The key is to safely release the retaining ligament under the SMAS as much and sufficiently as
possible.
The redundant tissue is then excised and the SMAS is fixed rigidly, so that the width of the face does not widen. This is a particularly important point for Asians.
Without putting tension on the skin, the redundant skin is excised and sutured meticulously, creating the perfect ear shapes. By doing this, the incision line becomes almost invisible, and you get a naturally curved tragus and round ear lobes.
The characteristics of my Deep Plane Facelift, can be summarized as ‘excellent lifting results’ and ‘extremely fast recovery’, as well as ‘almost invisible incision lines’ and ‘perfect ear shape’. It can also be interpreted as ‘erasing the shortcomings of other existing facelifts’.
