Deep Plane Facelift Dr. Min-Hee Ryu

Patient Q&A 1: What is a DEEP PLANE FACELIFT?

Hello, I’m Dr. Min-Hee Ryu from Gangnam, Seoul.

I’ve prepared this Q&A video to address questions from patients. Today, I’ll be discussing the first topic: What is a DEEP PLANE FACELIFT?

The history of the Deep Plane Facelift has been shaped by giants such as Dr. Tord Skoog, Dr. Sam Hamra, Dr. Bryan Mendelson, and Dr. Andrew Jacono.

Depending on the anatomical perspective, there are differences in technique, and the terminology can indeed be a bit confusing.

As a graduate of the Mendelson School, I’ve been serving as a faculty member for MAFAC (Mendelson Advanced Facial Anatomy Course) since 2016.

Most of my theories and surgical techniques are deeply rooted in the teachings of Dr. Bryan Mendelson.

I believe the essence of the DEEP PLANE FACELIFT lies in ‘fully RELEASING RETAINING LIGAMENTS in the sub-SMAS plane’.

The Zygomatic and Masseteric RETAINING LIGAMENTS divide the ANTERIOR and LATERAL parts of the face.

Without releasing these ligaments, the anterior part simply cannot move.

Since most facial sagging occurs in the anterior part due to MOVEMENT, the DEEP PLANE FACELIFT is essential for improvement of ANTERIOR part of the face.

While specific techniques may vary depending on the surgeon, safely and fully

RELEASING the RETAINING LIGAMENTS in the sub-SMAS plane is the key to a successful DEEP PLANE FACELIFT.

Unlike other general facelift methods, the DEEP PLANE FACELIFT effectively addresses the ANTERIOR part of the face.

Did this help you understand the concept of a Deep Plane Facelift?
