FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SMAS and Deep Plane Facelift?

While both procedures address the SMAS layer, a SMAS lift provides a more limited lift when the zygomatic and masseteric retaining ligaments are not completely released, leaving some anterior facial sagging uncorrected. See Dr. Ryu's YouTube explanation for a visual comparison.

How long do you have to stay in Korea (recovery period)?

It is generally recommended to stay in Korea for about 7 to 10 days for recovery.

Why are there not a lot of before and after pictures?

RNWOOD values patient privacy and consent. Only photos of patients who have consented are available publicly. More photos can be shown during an in-person consultation.

Why is it so expensive? What is included in the cost?

Quoted surgical fees include anesthesiology, postoperative care with HBOT and Healite treatments, up to three complimentary hair washing sessions, and airport–hotel transportation after deposit confirmation. Hotel accommodation, preoperative exams and labs, postoperative prescription medications, and personal transportation in Korea are not included.

Can I do the Facelift without a Necklift?

Facelift and necklift target different areas. You may choose one without the other, but combining both is often best for facial harmony.

Does Dr. Ryu perform revision cases?

Yes. Revision policy generally applies within the first 6–12 months after surgery; concerns beyond that period are often related to natural aging and may be considered a secondary procedure.

How long until I look presentable?

Recovery varies. Swelling usually peaks on day 3 and slowly resolves; bruising can take 3 to 4 weeks. Final results are typically assessed around 6 months after surgery.

Do I need to be hospitalized?

No. You are monitored in a recovery room until ready to return to your hotel. During recovery in Korea you may receive daily evaluations by Dr. Ryu plus HBOT and Healite services.

Are there any discounts or promotions?

There are no official promotions or discounts at the moment. Discuss details with your assigned consultant during an in-person consultation.

Can I do the surgery while travelling alone?

Many international patients travel to Seoul on their own. English-speaking consultants and the medical team support you from consultation through recovery. Hospitalization is typically not required.
